Electricity Department donates Tk 2.5 million to families of martyrs and injured in July mass uprising

The Power Division has provided financial assistance to a total of 25 people, including the families of 17 martyrs of the July Uprising, 4 who lost their sight and 4 who were seriously injured. A check of 25 lakh taka was distributed to each person. Earlier, the Power Division had given a check of 1 crore 5 lakh taka to the July Smriti Foundation on April 20.

Today, Sunday, the Power Division organized a discussion meeting, distribution of donation checks and a prayer mahfil on the occasion of the July Resurgence Program 2025. At the program organized at the release of the Bidyut Bhaban in the capital, family members of the July martyrs and injured fighters shared their experiences and struggles. This news was reported in a press release sent by the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources. It said that at the program, Shaheed Md. Jan Sharif’s wife Rahidun Sajba Banu, while reminiscing, said that the atrocities committed against their family cannot be compensated with any donation. The martyrs sacrificed their lives motivated by patriotism. But currently, no one is looking after their families.

Md. Faiz, a July fighter who lost an eye, described the horrific incident that happened to him. Another injured fighter, Md. Rakib Hossain, said that after a proper investigation into the incident that happened to them, appropriate justice should be provided and the injured should be given proper treatment.

The chief guest of the program was Farzana Momtaz, Secretary of the Power Division. She expressed deep respect for the sacrifice of the martyrs and prayed for the forgiveness of their souls. She called on all government and private officials and employees to fulfill their responsibilities in building a corruption-free, discrimination-free and justice-based society by realizing the sacrifice of the martyrs and the injured. Farzana Momtaz also assured to stand by the families of the July martyrs and the injured in the future.

At the end of the program, a special prayer was offered, seeking the forgiveness of the souls of the July martyrs, the speedy recovery of the injured fighters and the welfare of the people of the country.
